Flexible seating in the form of floor cushions, exercise balls, color stacked stools with padding, and balance balls will provide my kiddos with the ability to take charge of their learning, give them choices and meet sensory needs. A large dry erase board, dry erase table and color-changing touch boards will provide kiddos with multi-sensory activities and tools since my classroom only has a chalkboard and lacks a large table to build on collaborative social skills. My classroom also lacks a large classroom rug. Mindfulness games and activities, yoga pretzel cards, books such as "What Would Danny Do?', Mad Dragon: An Anger Control Card Game will aid kiddos learning self-regulation skills and promote a calm environment that facilitates learning. Learning and implementing The 7 habits by Stephen Covey teaches kiddos leadership and life skills along with creating a culture of empowerment. I want my kiddos to learn in a warm, calm, safe learning environment that can cultivate life and leadership skills along with meeting their individual needs to promote growth in academics.
