Learning a language is an exciting process of cultural discovery and appreciation, resilience, determination, representation, curiosity and collaboration! What better way to support all of these skills and more within the context of games and activities intended to bring learners together. By supporting this project, you are also helping us advocate for heritage language programs and model to students their race, and the languages that represent them, are of equal value in our community. Access to high quality resources and instruction in other languages, in this case Spanish, is one of the ways to champion importance of racial and language equity and representation. In our Spanish-English dual language school, these games and activities will be used to support Spanish Language Arts and emergent bilingual students. We are also requesting gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers to be able to find and access authentic Spanish Language Arts materials, made specifically to the skills and lessons needed. Students will utilize these games and materials to engage all language domains including reading, writing, speaking and listening. Access to paper and digital materials will also allow flexibility to transition between in-person and virtual setting for students in and out of quarantine.
