Historical reading material is often at a higher reading level than most of my students. I am constantly on the search for enjoyable yet informative books/articles/magazines that can be adaptable to all of my students but more importantly, my struggling readers. Almost 40% of my students are positioned one or possibly two grade levels behind in their reading skills, so these types of books make the information easier to comprehend and can be tailored to the students specific interest within our unit of study. Declaration of Independence and Constitution are some of the more difficult concepts and labored reading topics my students encounter. These books can supplement or even be the driving understanding for my students.
