My students are Kindergarten and 1st grade English Language Learners. The majority of the kindergarten students begin school each year with no educational background and know very little English. They are very motivated students who have such a desire to learn but lack the academic English skills they need to be successful in the mainstream classroom. Our school is in a high poverty area and is around 25% Hispanic and 85% free and reduced lunch.
