Computer literacy and internet citizenship are key pieces that are missing from our English classroom curriculum, but are incredibly important to the safety and well-being of my students. Each one of them is on social media in some way, but they are not using these things properly. With Chromebooks we would be able to implement daily lessons and action items in our class to increase their computer and internet literacy and safety. I plan to use Google Classroom and the GSuite applications to assist my students in their technological literacy and help them be better online citizens. I will be issuing typing lessons, online assignment completion, and essay writing/MLA formatting. My students currently do not have the typing skills to be successful in high school, and having more Chromebooks would encourage them to learn these skills.
