Many of my students have difficulty focusing on a lesson or completing a task. Allowing the children to move in a way that is not distracting towards others helps them become better learners. The wobble cushions and bouncy bands allow movement while still sitting in a chair during small group instruction. They also provide sensory input for students with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder. For many of my students, school/learning causes anxiety due to years of struggle or being misunderstood. I try to relieve some of the anxiety by providing an environment that accepts differences and allows them to be nurtured. The play foam, silly putty, and stress balls help to alleviate some anxiety and allow learning to take place.
