In requesting 110 new books, I know that I am asking a lot; unfortunately, my students need a lot and then a lot more after that. We need to hold books, fold corners, jot notes and know that they are ours. Each of my students can deeply benefit from having this opportunity. Allowing each student to read and possess a copy of Kindred will facilitate the building of a far more personal relationship with the course material. As the school year progresses, we will study race, ethnicity and identity, but it will be this reading (and your donation) that truly captivates and introduces students to the material.
