Reading this novel will help these students see a world event unfurl through the eyes of students their age. With this text, I hope to illustrate how world events impact our community. My goal is to teach my students that our actions impact our community and the world around us. It is also my hope to teach and show perseverance through hard times and events that alter our world. I hope to make my kids better readers by offering them a point of view other than their own. This book will also expose them to a genre and topic which many would not choose personally. It is important that I create a community of well-rounded readers.
