Fair isn’t everyone getting the same. Fair is everyone getting what they need to be successful. There are numerous benefits for implementing flexible seating within the classroom. It facilitates student choice, physical health, collaboration, comfort, sensory input, and fun. Students want to feel empowered and take ownership of their learning. Allowing students to move around the classroom pumps blood to their brain, burns calories, strengthens their core, and keeps the mind alert. Students with ADD, ADHD, and ASD benefit from flexible seating to promote focus and processing information while fulfilling their sensory needs. Providing flexibility makes learning fun and more engaging to commit to.
