The kindergartners at my public elementary school are from high-poverty homes. I want school to be a safe, stable, happy place for them where they can learn, grow, be successful, make friends, feel connected and capable. The students will practice writing numbers and letters with the tactile numbers and letters as well as the alphabet dough mats. The ten-frames magnetic answer boards will be used to teach addition and subtraction in a concrete manner appropriate for kindergartners. These materials will primarily be used during the language arts and math blocks but will also be available during choice time when children like to play school and take turns teaching one another.
