My senior creative writing students need a classroom that reflects our style of learning and sharing. This is a self-selected class where seniors come together for one semester to write and share their creative works. Our current room does not reflect this. Our classroom is a place for experimental creative writing, and we need an environment better suited for creating and sharing. Sitting in hard desks designed for right-handed students is not conducive to creativity. I have discovered that most of my students will choose to sit on top of a desk, on the floor, or in a free-standing chair rather than sit in the standard desks we have provided them. By sponsoring my classroom, you will be helping us create a space that is more comfortable for students to work and to collaborate. We would like to sit in a circle to share work and receive feedback. I want students to have autonomy in what they choose to write and where they choose to sit while doing so.
