My students, especially the younger ones, would greatly benefit from a new carpet seating arrangement. The activities that I could modify to best fit my students' comfort level while seated, such as drumming and Orff exercises, could be much more relate able, if the students were sitting on the floor versus in chairs. Circle rhythm activities and movement activities will be especially more beneficial to students with a carpet in the classroom. Sitting Indian-style in a circle will be beneficial for all grade levels when working together, face to face. The seating flexibility that a carpet adds to the music classroom is endless!
