The flexible seating resources that I am requesting for my classroom will provide for a more engaging learning environment for my students. I have seen many students who focus and learn best while they are moving around the room, but this is not always practical. Wobble cushions and chair bands provide a means for students to still be seated and channel their physical energy. Wobble cushions can be used around the room or at students' seats, making them extra-flexible seating! Students in my room will be able to use wobble seats to move around the room to do group work, and students will also have the option to use the cushions in the seats at their desks for active sitting. Chair bands will be used at students' seats around the base of the chair and are used to allow students to simply kick the bands. Kicking the band is especially great for students who are toe-tappers, as toe-tappers can distract other students through noise. Chair bands are a quiet alternative for students who channel their energy by physically moving at their seats! These resources will allow for active sitting, allowing students, particularly any students with ADHD to channel their energy in order to become more productive and engaged in the classroom. Engagement is key in student learning, and often students just need to move and wobble!
