Using live items to teach STEM helps students understand and life cycles is critical in their development! STEM is such a fun and innovative way to encourage students to enhance their love of science! The role-poly kit will provide the students a large visual about how insects eat and survive! The butterfly kit will teach students the life cycle of a butterfly. They will be able to watch the whole process from start to finish! The kit comes with a voucher for live caterpillars so they can be ordered when we begin this portion of our STEM lesson. The fish aquarium, tank heater, and artificial plant will help my students understand how animals need food and warmth to survive. They will be able to monitor the heat in the tank with the heater. This ties directly into multiple STEM lessons and will only enhance their excitement out STEM. The fish food will allow the students to work on measurement. We will discuss the negatives of overfeeding and starvation. The root-vue kit will help the students understand how plants grow and absorb nutrients. The kit comes with the soil and a variety of seeds. They will start by planting the seeds and watch them grow. Allowing them to see the roots and the above soil plants, will only help grasp the life cycle of plants! STEM is such a fun way to teach students and encourage them. These materials will help give them visuals about the STEM lessons we will be learning throughout the year!
