My students become invested when they see adults are invested in them. My vision for our homeroom is that it will be a space where students begin and end their day feeling welcomed and calm. To achieve this, we will represent our students respective home countries with flags, give them a reading space with a rug and lights, give them math materials to use during class (this is also the math room) and finally give them a pleasant aroma. The hallway our classroom is in often has a smell of old water that students find discouraging and distracting. When students feel welcomed, seen and appreciated, they are in a better position to perform their best.
