We will be doing a project-based unit where students engineer and test their own soda bottle rockets to learn firsthand about Newton's Laws of Motion. This is our physics unit on force and motion and will lead into our unit on astronomy. In this project, students will design and test rockets to learn about the nature of force, motion, gravity, and momentum. This project aligns with the Next Generation Science Standards. Additionally, this project will be done while the class is reading the book Hidden Figures, where students learn how rocket science was not only important to American space travel, but also about how it opened new doors for minority women in professional science.

About my class
