The majority of my students grow up only knowing about their little part of the world. Most of my students have never stepped foot in a museum, zoo or outside of our state. However, I am certain a library full of books about diverse people and their abilities, feelings and cultures will have a valuable influence on their lives! These books will mature their behavior and beliefs, causing a great shift in how they will function now and in the future. This new information will cause change not only in their lives, but also in their communities. By having the students read these books repeatedly, they will quickly commit them to memory. This in turn will create more empathy towards people who may not look like them. These lessons are vital in expanding their thinking on so many topics. They will learn to embrace new concepts that will allow them to share their unique hopes and dreams with their families. This will encourage acceptance of every aspect of this Big Beautiful Diverse World!

About my class
