"Reading gives us someplace to go when we have to stay where we are." -Mason Cooley Many of my students spend a majority of their time at home and in their small neighborhoods. They have very limited life experiences due to the economic hardships their families endure. By providing them with fun books like Katie Woo Tries Something New and Mr. Putter & Tabby Toot the Horn, my students will get to experience these hilarious adventures right here in our classroom. My students get the pleasure of working in a reading workshop daily. This affords them time to choose books they WANT to read and allows for ample time to devour these books! Your donation will help me provide books that are accessible and engaging to second grade readers! I've witnessed many kids fall in love with books, characters and authors during my years of teaching. I can teach students the mechanics of how to read, but my ultimate goal is for them to gain a love of reading that will last a lifetime!
