Students are noticeably more engaged in their work when they have some choice in where to do it. Creating a warm, welcoming reading environment will encourage kids to WANT to read. It will allow my class to engage in lessons and cultivate a love for reading that will last their entire lifetimes. I want to build a comfortable and cozy reading area for my students, and with your help, I can do just that. I am asking for a futon for my library, as well as a shelving unit to organize my literature. And the best part?! The most accomplished writers are those students who have exposure to-and practice with-language development...much of which comes from reading! I am requesting clipboards and hanging file folders for my students to free-write and store their work. Reading and writing go hand-in-hand. The love for one can foster another, and so on. This kind of cyclical learning is vital for students to achieve lifelong goals towards success. Thank you!
