Students in my school love many different activities. Reading is just not one of those activities. They read a book only when it is for a grade. They do not explore the content. There is so much they are missing!! We have a diverse population of students. We have many group home children and children living in poverty. We then have the affluent population. Both groups are not reading on a wide basis for very different reasons. The affluent are too busy after school with various activities and the children in poverty are struggling to make ends meet.
