Making lifelong readers is the ultimate goal in the classroom. Having Story Works and Time for Kids magazines that expose the students to both fiction and nonfiction literature will allow them to find something that they will enjoy. After using these magazines to support my reading lessons they will stay in the classroom for the students to pick up during independent reading time. Sometimes students need magazines to peak their interest and this will encourage them to later pick up a book about that topic or by that author, but starting small will grab their attention and leave them wanting to read more.
