The job market that my students are going to enter following their academic careers is also multifaceted and fast paced. In order to ensure that they are prepared with the skills to succeed in college, and eventually the work force, I need to be able to engage my students in many ways, breaking the restraints that a 4 inch piece of chalk places on a teacher without 21st century technology. In order to be successful, college is a must for my students. Unfortunately, many of the expectations that exist in the community in which they live do not support that ever occurring, which highlights the necessity of an engaging, rigorous, and welcoming classroom where all students feel supported and all students learn! As a school, we work alongside our parents to support our students and show them that we expect them to college and we expect them to succeed. Any additional resources we receive make this a task our students can more easily accomplish.
