Providing students with a classroom library equipped with some of the newest titles in physical book form and headphones for audio book options will help to encourage even the most reluctant of readers. The rug will provide a little extra space for students to stretch out and enjoy reading time. The posters will hang along the book cabinets to entice students into the world of literature. With this little classroom library, students will be well on their way to better reading! Reading has been proven to impact every other aspect of a student's life. Reading is the foundation for success in every subject, reading increases empathy and emotional intelligence, and reading in high school is directly linked with college success. This project will directly enrich the lives of my students on a daily basis. Students really appreciate the opportunity to have a choice in what they read and having the option for audio books will increase their motivation even more.
