This project will provide me with 20 soprano ukuleles and a bag to store each one inside of. These ukuleles will be used with my 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students. I have a variety of instruments in my music room that are suitable for younger elementary students, but I am in need of instruments that will challenge the upper elementary students. I feel that ukulele is the perfect instrument to challenge, excite, and engage the learners in my room. Providing my students with ukuleles will allow them to experience music in a personal way. If my project is fully funded, I will be able to place a ukulele into the hands of each one of my students, which is an opportunity they have never had before! I truly believe that this project will help to enrich their learning and foster a deeper love for music.
