My classroom is a self-contained special education/autism classroom for students ranging from 9th grade-21 years old, with educational diagnoses that significantly impact their learning. Many of my students are nonverbal, so they are learning to communicate using a variety of gestures and picture exchange systems. This room is full of some of the most inspiring and resilient young adults I have ever met. Because my students cannot successfully access the general education curriculum, I am constantly searching for, adapting, and developing activities that are meaningful, accessible, and age appropriate. All projects that I submit to Donors Choose are created to help me provide students with new and engaging educational experiences. My students succeed with support from their families, dedicated teachers and staff, and the community. I look forward to another year with these amazing learners.
