Thanks to start-up grants given to us by our high school and Illinois FIRST, we’ve been able to launch our team in 2017-18, compete in competitions, and get our hands on the basic parts we need to build our robot. Our first year was very successful: 25 students joined in our first year! We raised $1,500 in grants from Illinois FIRST and our high school We purchased a starter-kit of robotics parts which allowed us to compete in 4 Illinois FIRST robotics tournaments We were awarded ROOKIE TEAM OF THE YEAR at the spring state-tournament qualifier. We still need help purchasing a playing field, desktop computer, a CNC machine, 3D printer, and some basic FIRST robotics parts that will allow us to train more students. Our team is actively training kids on creative problem solving skills necessary to thrive in today's workforce. We're also developing highly coveted manufacturing, prototyping and programming skills as we design and manufacture custom parts for our competition robot.
