A classroom rug divided into 30 colorful, inviting squares will allow each of my young students to have a specified, defined learning space. This will help them get ready for learning quickly and stay focused. It will also give them an important sense of belonging. My students need a comfortable learning space to call their own when we do daily whole group lessons in the front of our classroom throughout the day. They can sit next to "Turn and Tell" partners to help process their learning. The rug will also allow them a comfortable alternative place to read from their browsing boxes in addition to their tables.
