My students need the leveled books in the Guided Reading Collection because they need practice reading books that are differentiated for their needs. Last year we did not have a librarian at our school so it was hard for my students to access books that they could take home. I am going to add the books to my classroom library so that it will be readily accessible to them. I also want them to have access to sports equipment. Our school doesn't provide anything for them to play with when they go to recess. Playing with others and sharing is so essential to social and emotional learning and I would like them to practice that skill beyond the classroom. So having the basketballs, soccer balls, and jump ropes is essential. I also just want them to have fun! A lot of students come up to me at recess and tell me that they're bored because they have nothing to play with.
