Establishing a positive classroom environment is essential for learning to take place. After teaching through an entire year with masks and social distancing we have forgotten how to work with others. It is imperative that I teach my incoming 9th graders how to work as a team. I am excited to use the book by John Gordon as a book study during the first few weeks of school. The short readings will be discussed at the beginning of each week and the practice will take place during the week. The students will then take what they have learned and spread the positive power to other classrooms within our building. I cannot wait for the discussions with my students!
