My students suffer from sensory issues and with the newest safety rules involving school shootings we will be having many more fire alarms going off during the course of the year. In the past they have been able to leave the room immediately, but now have to wait for instruction as to what type of alarm it is. Some students are so affected by noise that this could cause them to run outside during a situation with an unwelcome visitor on campus. Not only will these ear muffs muffle the sound and help students be calm in this situation, but they can also use them during the normal school day when they are having difficulty from regular sounds happening around them.
