Flexible seating would greatly enhance our 1st grade classroom. The children currently sit at tables and they crave a quiet atmosphere in which they can work. The individual desks would allow the students to move away from others invading their space. An easel would better permit me to deliver quality lessons. I want the children to look forward to walking into their classroom. I want to provide them with a happy but calm room. With individual desks they can retreat to a quieter place if needed. Sometimes our room is loud and boisterous especially when we are doing our routines. The desks would allow a calming space for those that prefer to work alone. Children are not one size fits all. In our classroom, some children cannot concentrate in a group setting and prefer individual space.
