Flexible seating will allow my students to do their best work in a choice spot that fits their learning preference. Currently, my students sit in regular four-legged chairs during whole group instruction and during most independent time. The balance balls, lap desks, floor seats and wobble stools I am asking for in this project will allow students to have a learning environment that fits their needs. Students will be not only more engaged but comfortable at the same time. Rather than trying to get children to sit still and stop figeting, we must design learning spaces that embrace children's movement and action as NECESSARY prerequisites for developing attention. With these new flexible seating opportunities, my students will be able to concentrate better, stay more engaged and complete their work to the best of their ability.
