This novel about a young girl in 6th grade is based on the real life experience of its author. Through reading this novel students will learn that not everything is as it seems. The cool, popular girls are not to be envied. The class clown really doesn’t want the attention, she’s just hoping that nobody recognizes that she can’t read. I believe they will recognize themselves and their peers in this novel and hope to build a sense of community and empathy to begin our school year. Our classroom will include students with a variety of learning differences, I hope they will recognize how these unique individuals all make a contribution.
