Last year I began using a choice based or TAB (Teaching Artistic Behavior) model for part of my instruction. Studios, or “stations” are set up and students select how they will demonstrate their knowledge using the art materials of their choice. Having a wide variety of options for the students is paramount to the success of a choice based art room. The LEGOs will be an additional tool that students will use to design and create sculptures and explore engineering challenges. Students will take pictures of their LEGO projects and save them for sharing with their families through their digital portfolios or on See-Saw. Both individual and collaborative work will be done using the LEGOs and baseplates.
