The resources I have requested will help my students learn how to use math in real-life situations. Sometimes it is very difficult for students to understand how they can actually apply math to the real world. However, I teach Math of Finance and almost everything that we learn can be used on a daily basis in life after high school. In a world where COVID-19 has dominated the last few years of our lives, it is more important than ever that kids know how to use math in their everyday lives so that they can use their money wisely to grocery shop, buy a car, get their utilities turned on, and file taxes, among other things. The calculators will help students with basic computations when calculating loans, interest rates, and balancing their check books. The document camera will make it easier for me to show important documents such as W-2s, pay stubs, and grocery receipts. The clock is essential to teaching time and helping students fill out their time cards. And the games, they help to break up the monotony of everyday book work. Learning can be fun, but we have to give kids hands-on opportunities, and these supplies will help me to do that!
