My Robotics program is now officially one year old, and what a year it has been! Using the Lego EV3 Robot kits the students gained an understanding of the processes that engineers go through to solve real-world problems, experienced the lows of failure when their bot didn't work, and the deeper learning that is achieved by not giving up when something doesn't work. They learned the power of an iterative design process, and how mistakes help them gain an even better understanding of their project. My students last year got the word out about our program, and sign-ups were through the roof for this year! Our program grew from 50 students last year to 140 this year, and we need several more kits to support all of these brilliant, engaged students. By donating to this project, you are giving these students the opportunity to engage in and practice the same processes that they will use throughout their lives to solve the world's problems, large and small. These kits allow the students to experience the power of Engineering Design while simultaneously learning how the modern world around them is created. My students love learning how everything they have ever used in life was created, and I love watching the realization come to them that they can create just as well as anyone else. Please help us keep this kind of education going in our school.
