Our students do not have the funds necessary to purchase simple items like pencils, notebooks, paper, etc. They will use loose leaf paper that ends up crumpled inside their backpacks or worse-- lost! As an English teacher, I require the use of notebooks for note taking, journaling, and graphing. Because many of our students are parents, work, or are homeless, they do not always see the value in spending a few dollars on something as simple as a notebook. Many need those few dollars for bus transportation, food, and/or clothing. I would like to provide them with a required notebook.
