People, especially young students, learn in different ways. While writing a sentence will help one student, another may need to hear the sentence aloud or read the words on a screen or a chart to help them. Another student may need to "act" out the sentence to connect to its relevance for him/her. With a classroom projector, I am able to give multi-sensory experiences on a daily basis purposefully. It becomes difficult for 20+ children to watch a laptop or computer screen to "dance" out rhyming words when they all cannot see. The projection is primarily a tool that helps reach more students at once because of size; and yet it also makes the visual more engaging. The more a student can see, the more inclined they may be to participate or ask questions if we are watching a video on animals where they can actually see and hear about something they did not know before. I plan to use the projector for "brain breaks." Go Noodle is a program that has interactive songs/dances/videos for young children to get up and move/breathe/calm down/and learn ways to be active and healthy. Brain breaks are necessary for young students and are used as a refuel for going back into learning. Fun is essential in the classroom. It's hard to enjoy the break when you cannot see or experience it. I also plan to use the projector for "content breaks." In a society where technology is heavily used, on a larger screen, I can utilize how we can research and learn information on the computer related to things we are doing in the classroom. I know if students are able to see without strain, they become more invested and I'm ready to invest in their curiosity and have fun at the same time!
