The new Science Standards for fifth grade include learning about cells. I have requested a digital microscope so my students can bring in plant and animal specimens to examine from home and our school yard. I have also requested prepared slides so my students can contrast the specimens they have with the animal and plant slides. Seeing and learning about cells will come alive with this digital microscope. My students will be able to share what they have with the class because the viewing screen can be projected for all to see. I have also requested Post-It easel pads so we can record scientific facts and information on the pad and easily display it on our classroom wall.
