Collaboration, manipulative use, and public speaking are all important parts of learning in my classroom. Student communication is a vital component to build those 21st century skills. Each student has a voice, and they need the opportunities to develop the confidence to use that voice. My students want to make a change in the world now. They also thrive through investigation and developing new knowledge. My school is a place where students can discover and reach for their potential. I strive to give them the passion they need to build upon their curiosity and develop lifelong learners. Building 21st century skills, such as listening and speaking skills will help them be successful in school and their future. I have my students taking with each other on a regular basis, as well as developing public speaking skills in front of the class. Practice is the best way to improve those skills. Students would use the microphone to help their confidence as they present to their peers. The microphone will help boost their voices when they might be a bit nervous or shy. It would also ensure that important information is not lost while they enthusiastically work collaboratively or with manipulatives. All students no matter where they are in the classroom will have access to the learning.
