These materials offer students a chance to see what is going on in other places outside out our small town in North Georgia. In my classroom, the magazines will be used for students to read independently and in small groups. In the small group settings, students will develop a sense of communication as they collaborate with their peers on the various articles being read. Another important aspect of the magazines is that it exposures students to go to places where they may never get to go. These articles also provide topics that can meet a wide range of student interest keeping them motivated to read. Reading a variety of text structures is important in a child's development of reading.
