Reading is the gateway to success in all content areas. If a child does not gain the ability to read independently early on in their school career, it is inevitable that they will struggle throughout the remainder of their schooling. Children enjoy listening to a good story or book, and there are so many benefits that come with it! When a child listens to a proficient reader they are learning how to convey tone, voice, emotion, and appropriate pacing. When a child feels confident in their abilities they are more likely to succeed. As an educator I want to provide every opportunity I can for my students to succeed. I truly believe that providing my students with a literature-rich listening center will not only increase their academic success, but also help their love of reading grow.

About my class
