We need pencils, markers, erasers, dry erase markers self-stick easel pads, a pencil sharpener and index cards to participate in collaborative learning experiences and to complete classroom assignments. This project is intended to help me set up my classroom with essential supplies that will help students meet both everyday classroom needs and complete classroom projects. Overall the materials that I have included in my list are intended to help students engage with curriculum in fun, interactive ways. Items like the pencil sharpener and highlighters will assist students on an everyday basis. As I teach in a school where more than half of the students come from low-income households, I find it especially important to relieve financial burdens on families by providing classroom sets of everyday resources in addition to more specialized project tools like art supplies. The goal of my project is to ensure that I am able to create a classroom space that encourages a collaborative and engaging learning environment. In order to support a variety of learner needs, I find that it is useful to create assignments that ask students to demonstrate their knowledge in unique ways. To follow this standard I have included tools like dry erase markers and erasers, oversized notecards, and giant sticky notes, which will allow students to work both independently and in teams to show their learning.
