Wobble chairs, flex-space floor chairs, comfy chair cushions and balance balls will allow my students to choose seating unlike traditional chairs. Elementary students are always moving and should not be expected to sit still all day long as a requirement to learning. Flexible seating is a childs’ dream come true! The flexible seating options allow for community, collaberation, movement, comfort and sensory input. All of the qualities of this type of seating will maximize learning and productivity. Students challenged with sensory issues will benefit from the calming effect offered by flexible seating. I have had experience with this type of arrangment and have witnessed the increased engagement and the reduction of disruptive behaviors. I wish this existed when I was a kid...don't you?
