As a first year-teacher, I learned innumerable lessons last year. Two of my biggest takeaways are students need routines and need to be taught organizational strategies and keeping track of and having visual representations of progress and goals is paramount to motivation. Though seemingly simple binders, they'll help my students get invested in their progress and stay organized. Not only will these boost my students' sense of ownership and pride, but it should also streamline the process of finding materials and tracking goals on a regular basis. My scholars, the majority of which are very artistic, will be able to personalize their binder covers, update and keep track of their goals and cores, and also hold onto / display pieces of work they're especially proud of. My hope is that they'll be able to see their progress qualitatively, visually, and also qualitatively as the year goes on.
