Options for flexible seating and fidgets in my classroom will provide my students with extra supports in order to help themselves stay on task during their school day. With flexible seating options, my students will be able to choose the space that works best for their specific needs during their small group and independent work time. Having different kinds of seating options, like the beanbag chairs and the seat cushions, will ensure that the students are comfortable in all areas of my room. The stretchy chair bands help to keep students from rocking back and forth in their chairs, and help with wiggly feet and legs. Providing the students with choices for their seating will help keep them motivated to do their best during their work time. A high number of the students that I work with have sensory needs that need to be met before quality learning can occur. Providing my students with a variety of fidgets will help ensure that they are able to have their sensory needs met and are ready to focus on instruction. Again, students are more motivated to make responsible decisions when they are given choices in the fidgets that they can use, so providing different things like stress balls, Tangle toys, and fidget cubes will help ensure that my students are getting the most out of these tools.
