My students are beginning to embark on the learning of STEM. In my school district, my students come from extremely low income homes, and are unable to experience these things outside of school. Many of my students struggle with various learning disabilities and will benefit from the hands-on materials. I have selected a variety of manipulatives that provide engaging hands on, play based activities the students will learn and play with independently and with other students in the classroom. The materials that I have chosen provide differentiated instruction as well as fun activities students can engage in while playing with such as the STEM Science Station Sink and Float, first microscope and Magna tiles. The students will use their prior knowledge and creativity to explore these educational materials. The students will use the Design and Build Engineering Centers and Young Architects Design Blocks to explore the different materials to build with, measure with and create 3-D towers and buildings encouraging our future engineers. The STEM Stories paperback library will help my students explore books relating to STEM. The students will practice pretend reading which will increase their language skills and vocabulary. My English Language Learners will also benefit from these materials. I hope to enhance my students' learning by increasing their early math, science and literacy skills. As teachers we strive to give our students the best education possible, and I know that with all of these materials I will be able to create an enriched learning environment that my students will be able to enjoy and succeed in STEM! Your donation will help engage and support my students and enhance their learning that much more! As a preschool teacher, I encourage my students to learn with hands on activities.
