My classroom family is made up of students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD). Students in my classroom range from Kindergarten to Second grade with various learning styles that require intense individual instruction. Students in my classroom need specialized or adapted materials to maximize their academic success. Students in my classroom can and do learn using repetition and materials presented in various forms. Some students may have physical needs which may prevent them from fully participating. Adaptive equipment and materials are necessary to ensure all students can learn and participate. As their teacher I have seen my students beam with pride from learning a new skill or from simply being a part of an activity. My belief is that ALL students CAN learn and engage in their school Community. They just need the right tools to succeed. We all do the best with what we are given.
