Our students are going to make a PSA to create rap music about their concerns about the worsening flooding and loss of animal habitat that results from paving over a salt marsh in our downtown Charleston, South Carolina neighborhood. Developing the science knowledge behind the art-making. The students will use the science standards to understand why flooding happens, what causes tides, and how we can lessen the damage to our community. Using materials such as the plastic cups, colored paper, and scissors, we will be able to make models of the moon phases which are causes of the high and low tides. We will also create music and dances that will reinforce the material and make it engaging for the students.
