Our world is fast paced and ever changing. These rapid changes require students to be flexible and take some initiative in their learning environment. Students today need to learn how to make choices daily and how can we expect them to do it if we are always making choices for them. Flexible seating allows the students to have some ownership of their learning environment to be active and focused learners. In my classroom, the students will have the choice to choose from a variety of seating options to help them be actively engaged in learning. The stools can be used around the guided reading table for a small group. The exercise balls and Learniture Active Learning stools will be used around the room for those students who choose to sign up to use them. The classroom environment will be conducive of collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity, which are all 21st Century Skills of an effective learner.
